Life is full of ups and downs, and most times when you’re down the last thing you want to do is hit up a crowded workout class. Netflix, red wine, and take-out may not be the best solution though! Experts suggest exploring your yoga practice more in these moments, which you can easily do at home with a video or by heading on over to Bare Feet.
According to Well + Good “A whopping six different presentations at the 125th Annual Convention of the American Psychological Association looked at studies which found yoga to have healing effects on people with depression of differing severities. The studies covered a wide range of ages, occupations, and genders, but they came out with some telling similarities—namely that there’s a positive correlation between doing yoga and lessening symptoms or feelings of depression.”
So next time you’re feeling low, try your best to resist the urge to namaste in bed, and instead roll out your mat and om it out.
